Daughters of Darkness (1971) is one of the greats in vampire cinema-- a pair of newlyweds check into a gloomy seaside resort and ignite a friendship with a mysterious, elegant woman named after the "Blood Countess" Elisabeth Bathory, and her quiet secretary. But soon Elisabeth has designs on both of the newlyweds, and the young couple are drawn into a web of seduction, murder and immortality. It is all style and blood. "A classy genre of vampire film follows a style I call psychological high Gothic. It begins in Coleridge's medieval Christabel and its descendants, Poe's Ligeia and James's The Turn of the Screw. A good example is Daughters of Darkness, starring Delphine Seyrig as an elegant lesbian vampire. High gothic is abstract and ceremonious. Evil has become world-weary, hierarchical glamour. There is no bestiality.
